Katie Harris loved growing up on a ranch. She had her horse, the beautiful Texas prairie, and Cole Logan, the cowboy next door. But there are a lot of secrets hidden under a Texas sky. . .

Katie was always sure she'd marry Cole Logan someday--until he kicked away her pretty dreams like so much horse pucky. So she wised up and moved to the big city. And she was happy there. That is, until her daddy got sick, and she found herself back on the wrong side of Cole's corral.

Cole knows Katie doesn't want anything to do with him. But after so many years, he can't pretend she's no more than a neighbor. Not when thinking about her cherry lip gloss and hell-for-leather passion is keeping him up all night. Holding his ground was hard enough when she was seventeen. Now that she's her own woman, Cole's heart doesn't stand a chance. . .

"Passionate, gritty and fast paced. . .with a hot blooded, honorable hero to make every woman's knees go weak." –Diane Whiteside

"A tortured hero, a love that defies distance and time. . .this is a book you won't soon forget." --Cat Johnson

  • Lose the battle…win the war

Once characters present their true selves, personalities are easier to understand. Bridged by loss, time, anger, empty promises the author lays out the discovery that love can still exist no matter the age, maturity, or circumstances of life. Each person searches their self-worth faced with the possibilities of HEA, and yet each has something to lose worthy of everything they own…but is there is still time to hope. Understanding the importance of mind games, I was distracted in the beginning of the book by time changes, and who the story’s main characters were. Dealing with past, present and future of 2 families with complex histories was a bit much. Words were spoken to hurt and in anger; while redemption and forgiveness the harder part to live by. There was a lot of tension(verbal and sexual) between Cole and Katie that could have been addressed earlier in the book. I believe there are still unanswered questions regarding Cole’s and her father’s bargaining chips that should have included Katie. This is however Texas—deep south bro-man to man code for male dominance.
